Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni has announced his squad for the Euro 2012 tournament, with a number of surprise inclusions and omissions.
Despite rumours about Damien Duff being left out of the Irish squad for Euro 2012, it was in actual fact James MCarthy who has been left out of Trap’s side, after the Wigan player’s father was recently diagnosed with cancer.
The squad which was announced earlier today is:
Goalkeepers: Shay Given, Keiren Westwood, David Forde.
Defenders: Richard Dunne, John O’Shea, Sean St Ledger, Darren O’Dea, Stephen Ward, Stephen Kelly, Kevin Foley.
Midfielders: Glenn Whelan, Darron Gibson, Keith Andrews, Keith Fahey, Damien Duff, Aiden McGeady, Stephen Hunt, James McClean
Strikers: Robbie Keane, Kevin Doyle, Simon Cox, Shane Long, Jon Walters. Standby: Randolph, McShane, Green, Coleman, Keogh
